Nominations for the 94th Academy Awards (2022) were announced on Tuesday evening. Many films have been nominated in 23 categories as a result of this. Tracy Ellis Ross and actor-comedian Leslie Jordan made the announcement. Many films were announced by a group of Washington University film art students, and some films were announced by a group of American firefighters.
The Indian documentary ‘Writing With Fire’ has made it to the 94th Academy Awards’ final nominee list in the documentary feature category. Tracee Ellis Ross and Leslie Jordan announced this on the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ social media accounts this evening. It was directed by Rintu Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh. The only Dalit women-run newspaper in India is ‘Writing with Fire Chronicles: The Rise of Khabar Lahariya.’
Aside from that, ‘The Power of the Dog’ has been nominated for awards in 12 different categories. Jane Campion, the film’s director, has made history by being nominated for Best Director on multiple occasions. She is the first woman to be nominated for a director award multiple times. ‘The Piano’ was his most recent Oscar nomination.
Records for the West Side Story producers
Steven Spielberg, the director, also set a new record. The ‘West Side Story’ producer has received nominations in a total of seven categories. So far, 11 Spielberg films have been nominated for Best Picture, a new record for the Academy Awards.
