China is attempting to conduct politics under the guise of the 2022 Winter Olympics. The Games will take place in Beijing from February 4 to February 20. The torch relay, or torch rally, for the Games was carried out on Wednesday. It included a soldier as well as athletes. ‘Ki Fabao’ is its name. In 2020, Fabao was involved in a violent military skirmish between India and China in Ladakh’s Galwan Valley. Fabao was seriously injured at the time. His life, however, was saved.
On May 5, 2020, 20 Indian soldiers were killed in the Galwan conflict. Many news outlets around the world, including those in the United States, reported that 40 Chinese soldiers were killed in Galvan Valley. However, The Xi Jinping administration never disclosed the exact number of soldiers killed by the Chinese army, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA). It is also important to note that many countries, including the United States, have sent a strong message to China by boycotting the Winter Olympics in 2022.
At the time of the skirmish in the Galwan Valley on the night of June 15, 2020, there were approximately 300 Chinese soldiers and 45 to 50 Indian soldiers to face them.
On the 4th, the torch will arrive at the sports village.
The torch relay began on Wednesday, according to China’s official newspaper, ‘The Global Times.’ On February 4, the torch will arrive at Beijing’s Sports Village. In this, ordinary people and athletes run with torches. Ki Fabao, a PLA soldier, is also among these individuals. After being seriously injured in a clash with Indian troops, Fabao was airlifted from Galwan. Weng Meng, a four-time short track speed skating champion, passed the torch to Fabao. Before arriving at the Olympic Park on February 4, the torch will travel through three host zones. It will be taken to Yangqing and Zhangjiao in addition to Beijing.
What does China desire?
The number of Chinese soldiers killed in the Galvan Valley has never been disclosed. More than 40 Chinese soldiers were killed in the conflict, according to US intelligence. When these reports were made public, China’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement admitting that it, too, had suffered losses. However, it is never entirely clear what the meaning of loss is.
Tensions between the two countries in Ladakh remain high. Even after 14 rounds of talks, the soldiers of both countries are at odds on some critical issues.
The deployment of Indian troops to Ladakh began on June 16, 2020, the day after the skirmish.
Threats to game participants
The United States and many other Western countries have boycotted the games diplomatically. This was announced about six weeks ago. Following this, tensions between China and these countries grew. Countries that have imposed a diplomatic boycott on China have accused it of violating human rights. There are thousands of proofs of this available to the rest of the world.
The point was reached last month, when China threatened the athletes competing in the Games. According to China’s Foreign Ministry, athletes attending the Winter Olympics should avoid politics. Games should be treated as if they were sports. If an athlete disregards China’s laws and regulations, he should be prepared to face the consequences.
